Any one who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. – Luke 14:25-33
In this passage, Jesus calls for radical discipleship, emphasising that following Him requires total commitment. He uses strong language, urging us to place God above all things, even family, comfort, and possessions. Jesus teaches that to truly follow Him, we must be willing to surrender everything for His sake, renouncing any attachment that competes with our loyalty to Him.
Go out to the highways and hedgerows and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. – Luke 14:15-24
In this parable, Jesus describes a great banquet where many invited guests make excuses and decline the invitation. The master, frustrated by their rejection, sends his servants into the streets and alleys to compel others, especially the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame, to come and fill his house.
‘Young man, I say to you, arise.’ – Luke 7:11-17
As Jesus approaches the town of Nain, He encounters a funeral procession for the only son of a widow. Moved with deep compassion, He stops the procession, touches the coffin, and says, “Young man, I say to you, arise!” Immediately, the young man sits up and begins to speak, and Jesus restores him to his mother.
