If then you have not been faithful with the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? – Luke 16:9-15
In this passage, Jesus teaches that worldly wealth is temporary and serves as a test of our hearts. How we manage our possessions, even what He calls “unrighteous wealth”, reveals our faithfulness and determines whether we can be trusted with the true riches of heaven.
The children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the children of light. – Luke 16:1-8
In this passage, Jesus tells the parable of the dishonest steward, who, though acting unjustly, shows remarkable shrewdness in planning for his future. Jesus does not praise the steward’s dishonesty but his prudence and foresight.
There will be joy in heaven over one sinner who repents. – Luke 15:1-10
In the parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin, Jesus reveals God’s merciful heart, showing that heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents more than over many who think they have no need for repentance. Through these stories, Jesus emphasises that God never stops seeking us, no matter how far we stray. Just as the shepherd searches joyfully for his lost sheep and the woman rejoices upon finding her lost coin, God seeks every lost soul with tender love.
