Would that you had known the things that make for peace! – Luke 19:41-44
Jesus approaches Jerusalem and weeps because the people do not recognise the things that make for peace. He laments their refusal to accept God’s offer of salvation and foresees the destruction that follows a hardened heart. Jesus grieves not out of anger but out of deep sorrow for those who reject God’s grace.
Why then did you not put my money in the bank? – Luke 19:11-28
In the parable of the ten minas, Jesus teaches that God expects every disciple to be a faithful steward. A nobleman entrusts money to his servants, expecting them to invest it wisely while he is away. Upon his return, he praises those who used their talents to multiply the investment, but condemns the one who hid his mina, highlighting the danger of inaction.
What do you want me to do for you? – Lord, let me recover my sight. – Luke 18:35-43
As Jesus enters Jericho, He notices Zacchaeus, a wealthy chief tax collector who is despised by the crowd. Despite Zacchaeus’s low stature, Jesus calls him by name, inviting Himself to his house. The encounter leads to Zacchaeus’s conversion and restitution, as he recognises his need for redemption.
