Stay awake that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place. Luke 21:34-36
Jesus warns His disciples to Stay Awake in Christ, refusing to let their hearts grow heavy with sin, distraction, or the anxieties of life. He cautions them not to be weighed down by dissipation or fear, lest His coming catch them unprepared.
When you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. – Luke21:29-30
Jesus uses the budding fig tree to show that God’s promises unfold as surely as the seasons change. When its branches grow tender and sprout leaves, we know summer is near; in the same way, when we see signs of change and upheaval, we know the Kingdom of God is near.
Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. Luke 21:20-28
Jesus warns His disciples about the coming destruction of Jerusalem and the trials that will follow, urging them to flee when the city is surrounded by armies and reminding them that “Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”
