The birth of John the Baptist. – Luke 1:57-66
In this Gospel, Elizabeth gives birth to John the Baptist, and neighbour and relatives rejoice at this long-awaited gift of life. When they question the child’s name, Elizabeth and Zechariah faithfully affirm the angel’s message by naming him John.
He who is mighty has done great things for me. – Luke 1:46-56
In the Magnificat, Mary praises God, proclaiming, “He who is mighty has done great things for me.” She recognises God’s power, mercy, and faithfulness as He looks upon her humility and fulfills His ancient promises.
