In this Gospel, Jesus calls Philip to follow Him, and Philip, filled with excitement, tells Nathanael, “We have found the Messiah.” Though Nathanael doubts, asking if anything good can come from Nazareth, he answers the simple invitation to “Come and see.”

John’s Gospel opens with a breathtaking truth: the eternal Word of God becomes flesh and dwells among us. Jesus Christ exists from the beginning with God and is Himself God. Through Him all things come into being, and in Him is life, Christ’s Divine Light that shines in the darkness and can never be overcome.
