Luke 20:27-40

Explanation

Jesus teaches the Sadducees that the resurrection is real and that God is truly the God of the Living. When they attempt to trap Him with a question about marriage in the afterlife, He refutes their premise and explains that in the resurrection people are like angels, belonging fully to God. Jesus declares, “He is not God of the dead, but of the living,” revealing God’s faithful covenant love and His power over death. Life with God continues beyond death and is transformed, and those who live in Him live forever. Today, this truth invites us to trust the God of the Living with hope and confidence.

Reflection

Jesus invites us to trust that God is truly the God of the Living, not of fear, loss, or despair. When we face uncertainty, change, or suffering, He calls us to hope in eternal life and to live with the conviction that God’s love is stronger than death itself. Our beloved departed live in Christ, and God holds our future with faithful care. If every moment carries eternal meaning, then this truth should shape how we handle our worries, our relationships, and our choices of faith. Let God’s promise of life guide how we love and live today.

Questions for Reflection

  • Do I live each day with the hope that God prepares eternal life for me?
  • How does knowing God is the God of the Living change the way I face fear or uncertainty?
  • Do I truly trust in God’s promise of eternal life for myself and my loved ones?
  • What helps me remember that God is the God of the Living?
