Explanation
Jesus teaches that His return comes suddenly and unmistakably, like in the days of Noah and Lot. People then lived ordinary lives, unaware until judgment arrived, and Jesus warns that the same will be true when the Son of Man is revealed. He cautions His disciples not to cling to earthly possessions or become absorbed in daily routines that dull spiritual awareness. Instead, He calls us to remain faithful, alert, and detached from worldly distractions. His message urges us to stay ready at all times, living in truth, watching with vigilance, and preparing our hearts for Christ, who comes at an unexpected hour.
Reflection
Jesus calls us to follow Him with spiritual alertness rather than spiritual sleep. Our daily routines can dull our awareness of God’s presence, yet He invites us to live each moment as a gift and to stay watchful for His coming. This Gospel reminds us that the Son of Man can be revealed at any moment, urging us to detach from worldly distractions and focus on our eternal destiny. To be ready for Christ today, we choose faith over fear, charity over selfishness, and truth over compromise. Readiness grows as we pray, repent quickly, forgive freely, and love consistently. In our work, families, and struggles, we remain attentive to God’s presence, keeping our hearts prepared for His glorious return.

- Ask, “Make my heart watchful and ready for Your coming.”
- Offer Him your fears, distractions, and attachments.
- Rest in His presence and whisper: “Jesus, I trust in You.”
