Matthew 7:7-12 - Trust in God’s Goodness

Trust in God’s Goodness: Ask, Seek, Knock

Trust in God’s Goodness means coming to the Father with confidence, knowing He listens when we ask, seek, and knock. When Jesus speaks about prayer, He shows that God never gives “stones” when His children ask for “bread”. Through Trust in God’s Goodness, we believe He is a loving Father who knows what is truly best for our souls. Prayer becomes a relationship, not a magic formula, rooted in faith and persistence. As we receive His mercy and care, our hearts slowly change. Therefore, Jesus links this teaching with the Golden Rule, calling us to treat others as we wish to be treated, letting real prayer shape daily life.

Trust in God’s Goodness: A Heart of Trusting Prayer

Trust in God’s Goodness means I keep praying even when I feel silence or do not see quick answers. When Jesus says “Ask, Seek, Knock”, He invites me to approach the Father daily with childlike confidence. Through Trust in God’s Goodness, I learn that God may not give what I expect, but He always gives what I truly need. His timing stretches my patience, yet it slowly shapes my heart to be kind and merciful. As I discover how deeply the Father loves me, I find new strength to be gentle with others. Today, I choose trusting prayer over giving up and bring my real struggles to God with honesty and hope.

Trust in God’s Goodness: Questions for Reflection

  • Do I truly believe God listens to me and gives what is good for my salvation, even when answers differ from my plans?
  • What request have I stopped bringing to God because I lost heart, and how can I ask again with trust today?
  • Where do I give up too quickly instead of seeking God’s will with patient, confident prayer?
  • How can I live the Golden Rule more faithfully in a difficult relationship, trusting that God’s goodness guides my response?

Spend five minutes today in persistent prayer for one specific intention and renew your Trust in God’s Goodness with simple, honest words. Then, practise trusting prayer by asking confidently for one grace you truly need and entrusting the outcome to His loving care.

Trust in God’s Goodness: Guided Meditations for Prayer

  • I breathe slowly and place myself before my loving Father. I reach out like a child and Trust in God’s Goodness as I speak my needs.
  • Lord Jesus, I come quietly and lay my worries in Your hands. Teach me to Trust in God’s Goodness when answers seem slow or hidden.
  • Father, I bring my needs without fear or pretence. I trust Your wisdom more than my desires and choose to wait in peace.
  • Today I rest in Your loving care. Strengthen my faith, so I live each moment in trusting surrender to Your goodness.

Lord, I ask, I seek, I knock, I trust in You.

To Serve Christ in Others means seeing Jesus in everyone we meet, especially those most in need. When Jesus describes the Last Judgement, He shows that our love for God is proven by how we treat others. He separates people like a shepherd separates sheep from goats, according to their mercy and compassion.
